After almost 8 months of facing problems with our new ProPhoto blogsite (that neither our webhotel Loopia, the customer service of Prophoto or Google could understand and furthermore fix up), we have finally moved to a new webhosting provider and we have started a new blog.

Photo booth!

This was the second time we photographed a "photo booth" during a wedding and it was again so much welcomed and enjoyed by the guests as well as the newlyweds. But this time it was a little more advanced; the guests could also send a message to the couple, thanks to a little board we found at Haga Slott.

The guests could be photographed as they want and they could send any kind of message to the couple. The couple had no idea about the messages...

Xiaolu and Michael, we hope you have a nice vacation/trip back to Genéve and we thank you once more for the trust and the wonderful time we had with you during these three days in Enköping!

Dear guests, who came to the little studio in the basement, you were really amazing! Thank you for the fun and the laughs-to-tears!

Michael and Xiaolu live in Switzerland but they chose Haga Slott in Enköping, 80 km from Stockholm, to get married.

Today we met with them for the first time after many months, in the castle where the reception will take place, and we visited the church where the ceremony is going to take place tomorrow. The priest explained for the couple th,e ceremony before we got back to the castle for the crayfish party with the guests!

When i first met Emma and Simon, in the begining of the year, it stroke me directly how familiar Emma looked to me, but i could not really remember from where. Then i thought that maybe she had been framed in some of our photos that we use to see very often on the screen of our computer (a photo from some of her friends' wedding or from the Unversity in Stockholm) and in the end started to look so familiar. It has happened several times before.

It was Emma that asked me after a few minutes if i had been one of her classmates at Lärarhögskolan in Stockholm some years ago, when we travelled to Tändalen for skiing. Well, i was so focused then on trying to learn skiing at the age of 40 that i could hardly remember any of my classmates there! :-))

We met again with Simon and Emman last week to plan a little about their wedding day and take some photos. Both of them were great and it was a lot of laughing during the session.

Now we are looking forward in meeting them again at the end of July when the wedding is going to take place!

Sitting in the office working with photos, while the temperatures in Stockholm are around +30° C, i can't resist going back to the photos from a wedding we photographed this winter.

Carolina had just gotten married with her Fidde, and everybody run in the warmth of the house.

Her sister with her fiancé were the last ones to go in, after they had picked up some things used during the ceremony. On the way to the house they stopped for a kiss and a hug.

The temperature was -18° C and blowing!!!

With temperatures over 30 degrees Celcious, Anna and Paul got married at Skebo herrgård last week.

They had a beautiful ceremony at Söderbykarl church which was followed by champagne, photos with all the guests together and, a little later, the reception at the really cozy and full of atmosphere Skebo country estate.

Right now they are enjoying the start of their live together at some really exotic place, far away from Sweden, but a dvd with their photos is already on the way to their home by post.

Kristina and Lars got married when the ice in Sweden had just started melting.

The couple had decided to have the wedding ceremony outdoors near the water, and everybody was wondering how it would look like there after all the ice had gone.

This was the reason that the bride's friends decided to make her a couple of boots that would pass with her bridal gown. They bought them and then decorated them themselves.

The bride was offered the present by her friends during her bachelorette party, just a few days before the wedding day. And they really saved the day! :-)

Portraits for the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.

Recently we photographed some portraits for Kriminalvården (the Swedish Prison and Probation Service). One of the persons to be photographed was Ulrica Palm Jaconelli, who is project-leader working in the Service. The photos are going to be publiced at the service's magasine.

16 new priests and deacons in Stockholms Stift.

In two days time the princess Victoria of Sweden and Mr Daniel Westling will get married in Storkyrkan, in Stockholm. It is because of this wedding that the church has received a real facelift during the last months.

This Sunday it was the last time that the church was used for a ceremony before it was closed for the public untill the royal wedding. During this last ceremony 16 new priests and deacons were blessed by the bishop Ewa Brunne and were "married" the Swedish church.

Lots of their relatives and friends attended the ceremony and took the chance to photograph them together with the bishop.

On Saturday i shall have the pleasure to attend and photograph the wedding day of Anna and Anders!

This is actually the first time as far as i can remember that i am not stressed about the weather at all!!! Of course i want it to be beautiful because i know that this would make the wedding couple happy, but as far as photography is concerned, i think we are going to spend most of our time in the very old and beautiful Bogesunds slott.

It was there that we met a week ago, to plan about the session on the wedding day and photograph a little. Well, we could not stop! Four floors just for us, with very old, colourfoul tapestries, large windows and spacious rooms! It can't be better!

Istanbul revisited!

There are some places that you visit once and become enchanted. It feels like you must visit them again and again, that it is never enough. Istanbul is absolutely such a city; mystery, tradition, history, legend, colours and sounds... It's a magic place!
We were there some 3 years ago for the first time, for a small weekend trip and were just looking forward to visiting the city again!
Imagine our happiness when we got a inquiry from Greece, if we interested in traveling to Istanbul to photograph a baptism. A greek family would travel to istanbul from Greece with relatives and friends and they would so much like to have nice photos from their stay and the ceremony there!
Well, their stay there and the ceremony were s-p-e-c-t-a-c-u-l-a-r !!!! More than a hundred guests traveled there. Plus aproximately 30 persons/professionals who would take care of the sound, the lighting, the photo and video covering, the orchestra, the dancers... The day prior the guests were offered a cruise in Bosporus while the day after, when the ceremony was over, the family guested all the guests with a coctail party at the gardens of the Ciragan Palace Kempinski Istanbul, which was followed by a dinner in the hotel and dance untill early in the morning.
Due to the request of the family for anonimity not the names nor their photos will be shown at the blog, but a post is coming soon with photos from city, the cruise and the party!

ps: the photo of the Sultan Ahmet cami under the full moon is taken from the window of our hotel! Not a bad view! :-))

Carolina in Abisko.

Working with the photos from Carolina and Fidde's wedding in Abisko, at the very north of Sweden, a couple of months ago. The couple has a huge amount of photos that we have to go through and choose from, and many of them are really unusual.

The wedding ceremony took place at the top of the Nuolja fjäll, with a breathtaking view all the way to the Lapporten!

All the guests, including us as well as the couple themselves, came to the place where the ceremony would take place with a 20 minutes tour with the ski lifts. Farthermore, at least half of them, including the parents in law, came down, back to the hotel, skiing and skiboarding.

Finally, while photographing the party after the reception, we used a room of the hotel as a studio for a photo-booth. It was really fun to photograph the guests really relaxed, in a great fun mood and probably after one or ... three drinks! :-))

Photo exhibition for the Holy Mount Athos.

It was 1995 when a friend, monk at the monastic republic of the Holy Mount Athos in Greece, invited me to Athos, to help him to photograph the relegious activities there during Easter. That was it; i was hooked. The following years i visited the place several times, photographing a lot, although at times it had been really dificult since the monks were very intolerant against kameras.
By the time my relations with many of them became really friendly which helped as far as photography was concerned. Some of these friendships actually have become so strong that we still meet very often although i have moved to Sweden and the distance has become thousands of kilometers.
Because of this long distance, my trips to Athos became a little more random but they continued, partly thanks to the financial help from the Association of the Swedish Photographers and the proffesional photo-lab Crimson, in the form of stipendiums.
But the photos remained in the archives and, at best, some of them where shown on internet...

Until some weeks ago, when i found an email in my mailbox from Dimitrios Salpistis, special advisor for the Mount Athos Center, and former vice-president of "Thessaloniki, the cultural capital of Europe". In the email he was explaining that the Mount Athos Center is celebrating this year a decade from its foundation, that a photo-exhibition is going to take place as part of the celebrations and was wondering if i might be interested to exhibit my work there, that they had seen in the net!!!

Well, needless to say that during my visit to Greece hundreds of negatives travelled also with me! :-) The printing will be made with the help of the incredible CCG (Colour Consulting Group) and the exhibition will be open from the 25th of June 2010 untill the 17th of September this year.

It has been a whole month without blogging which is ... almost kriminal but, God it has happened a lot during this month!

Because of the inorm amount of pictures during the different sessions it is no idea for huge posts with dosens of photos. But we love to give a taste of our work!

It was just a little than a month ago that we travelled to Greece to celebrate the Easter time with relatives there. During the Holy Week there is an escalation of religious activities with a holy procession of the Epitaph the Good Friday starting from every church all over the country and finishing back again at the same church some hours later.

Christening in Turkey!

Wow! How exciting!
Just booked the ticket to Istanbul (via Thessaloniki) to photograph a christening there! :-)
We were there a couple of years ago for some holidays and the photos resulted to an article at the leading swedish travel magasine Vagabond (nr 04/2007).
Now we shall be a part of an approximately 35 persons group who all will work to make the christening day unforgetable for the parents of the baby and their guests, together with musicians, video filming crew, film-director and everybody else!
The celebrations will last 2 days with a daily cruise in Bosporus the first day and the ceremony plus the reception the day after.
Just praying for the icelandic volcano to take it a little easier now and for a nice weather in Istanbul!!!

I had just come back from C's photo session and wrote a line about it on our wall at facebook when i got the response from Therese, who wished to have a similar session for her beloved.

During the messages we changed to find a theme and an available day for both of us, Therese named two things that stuck in my mind.

The first was "... jag litar på dig ...", ("i trust you"), which made me feel extremely flattered but at the same time raised the bar of the quality of the photos even more...

When i came to her home for the session i got a little surprise; her boyfriend was also there but he was not "allowed" to come close while photographing. When i asked her "...wasn't it suposed to be a surprise present to him?" she answered "i know, but i can not keep secrets from him!". So sweet!

Well, here shows one photo only because the rest will be shown in a couple of months.

Therese looks gorgeous, which reminds me of the second thing she mentioned during the facebook-messages: "jag är dock inte så fotogenique..." (" i am not so photogenic").

I met with C for the first time in Grand Hotel in Stockholm, in January 2009. She was one of the hundreds of visitors of the Bröllops Mässa (the Wedding Fair) and we did not talk for more than a couple of minutes.
It was some months ago when she contacted us again and asked if we could photograph her wedding day and a few days later asked also about a photo session as a present to her husband.
C took care of everything. She had a clear idea of how she wanted her pictures to look like, in what enviroment she would be photographed and she was amazing at posing! Actually the session went so smooth and the photos resulted at a beautiful 12-pages designed album.

After two wonderful weeks in Greece to celebrate the Easter, we are again back home trying to put some order at the chaos that we everytime find when we come back home after being away for some days.
Tomorrow i am going to meet Kristina and Lars to photograph our second wedding this year. The weather is a little strange these days, changing from sunshine and 9 degrees Celcius to rain and almost snowing today. But the changes at the light where amazing and hopefully it will be beautiful light even tomorrow.
But it will certainly be different than the day we met for some test-shooting almost a month ago; it was also then sunshine but the temperature was minus and the whole lake was frozen with some half a meter ice on its surface...

Wedding at the Nuoljas Bergstation, i Abisko.

This weekend we had the real pleasure to travel to Abisko, near Kiruna, at the very north of Sweden, to photograph a wedding.

The bride with roots in Poland and the bridegroom with roots in Lappland. Both of them loving sports and the life in nature. They met eachother on Kebnekaise mountain some years ago, and they decided to get married at the top of the Nuolja fjäll, in the Arctic circle.

We had real luck with the weather, with a beautiful sunsine, although it was freezing cold. Everybody, including the wedding couple, arrived by chairlifts, but many chose to take the way back skiing or snowboarding, after the ceremony!

Some 4000 teachers in mathematics visited the Älvsjö trade fair in Stockholm, in the end of January, during the trade.

Margareta Forsbäck's lecture was one of the most sought-after lectures and was focused on the way to help younger children to learn the basic meanings in mathematics, with the help of examples from the everyday life.

This post could also have "the power of love" as a title!

Angelii is a very brave young lady!

Her love has just gotten a new job many hundred km away, in Norway. He is leaving in two days and he will be staying away for a few weeks every month. Angelii thought of being photographed, to prepare a small album that he will take with him while away. The album would be given this morning...

Angelii chose to be photographed in a sensual and rather intimate way near the water. Well, literally ON the water. We photographed outdoors, on the frosen surface of a lake, in minus 6 degrees Celcius.

The session took almost an hour and while she was posing there almost naked, she kept on saying to me " keep on photographing, it's ok! " every time (kind of every other minute) i asked her if she would like to take a break and get some warm clothes on.

Although she has aproved for her photos to be published by us, we chose to use her portrait. The rest of the images are "for his eyes only".

Destination winter wedding.

Yesterday we received this beautiful invitation that Carolina and Fidde sent to us for their wedding!

The couple is a really active one, very much interested in sports and especially in climbing on ice (Fidde is an instructor actually). So it did not feel as a surprise that they chose to get married outdoors, at one of their favorite places, the Abisko tourist station, in the end of March (Abisko is a small city some 150 km north of the polarcirkel, nearby Kiruna).

We only wish that we shall also have the luck to witness the fabulous Aurora while there and even farthermore to photograph the just married couple under it!

When i close my eyes i am back to the "office" in Santorini, where we spent 5 wonderful days in September, photographing the wedding of Νικος and Χαρα!

The "office" was outdoors, had a temperature of some 26 * Celcius and a nice breeze, was near the swimming pool and had a magnificent view over the caldera. There was even a service for coffees and drinks...

Then i open the eyes again and look outside the window. The office this time is indoors because it is 21 * Celsius under zero.

The sweeds looove it! I have no idea how many words there are in the swedish language about the different kinds of snow and its noice when one is walking on it. Soon it is time for a week of winter holidays all over the country, so that the people will enjoy the winter sport activities.

I think i shall continue dreaming ...

Isihia - Silence

"Isihia" (= Ησυχία ) is the greek name for "silence".

I have travelled many times to the monastic community of the Holly Mount Athos, in Greece, where silence is very much appreciated by the monks who live there. It helps them concentrate on the spiritual world, on praying, on God. It helps them avoiding the distractions of the materialistc world.

Isihia (Bulgarian: Исихия, "hesychia") are a Bulgarian music band founded in 2000, the style of which unites elements of Bulgarian folklore and Hesychast Christian chant of the 14th century to create an atmosphere of Balkan spiritual mysticism (copied from Wikipedia).

Well, guess our surprise when we were contacted by the production company of the new album of the group, who were interested to buy the right to use 3 of our pictures from Athos for worldwide use for the new cd of the group.

The negotations are going on with the lawyers of the company and on the meantime we have the chance to listen to samples of the group's music at their homepage. They can also be found at facebook, as well as in the iTunes Store.

We have not blogged for some time now, and the trouth is that we have been a little lazy due to the holidays but that we spent much more time with our children than the cameras and the computer.
But here come some photos from some of the jobs we have done during the last weeks.

The priminister of Sweden, Fredrik Reinfeldt, came to the Stockholm University, to talk about enviromental issues. Unfortunately, his tight schedule did not permit a planned interviue with portrait photos, but it was a joy anyway to photograph him while adressing the audience, as you can see at the following contact-sheet.

The Swedish Fiscal Policy Council needed some photos for their homepage, from their meeting to discuss and comment the 2010 Budget Bill of the Swedish Gouverment (I was almost three hours with them but i can not brag that i understood that much with all that economy terminology!) :-)

The Stockholm University was visited by the Minister of Higher Education and Research, Tobias Krantz, who spent half a day there. He was photographed in front of Aula Magna during the 3-4 minutes that were booked in his schedule for that.

In Aula Magna was also Paul Crutzen photographed, during his visit to the University. As a Nobel prize winner in chemistry in 1995, this was not the first time to visit the place. His signature is part of the decoration of the wall near the entrance of Aula Magna.

Eva Brunne is the new bishop in Stockholms Stift, and on the 10th of January was at the Storkyrka for the cosecration of the new priests. That was the first time since she became the new bishop.

The Nobel Laureates meet Alfred Nobel.

On Saturday the 12th of December we met the Laureates for the last time during their visit in Stockholm. It was at the Nobel Foundation where we should take a group photo under the portrait of "the man behind the Nobel prize".

Unfortunately, 2 of the prize winners were not able to attend, the President of the United States being one of them... But we did have the pleasure to get the book "The King Bows and Kills" signed by its author!

On Tuesday the 8th of December the Nobel Laureates of this year visited the Stockholm University as guests of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. There, in Aula Magna, they kept a series of lectures about their works that was honored with the Nobel prize, and met colleagues and university students.

The lectures started early in the morning and lasted until the evening of the day. In the end the audienence had the chanse to meet the Laureates, talk with them and even get autographs.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences hosted the Nobel Laureates in Physics and Chemistry, as well as the receiver of the National Bank of Swedens prize in Economics in memory of Alfred Nobel, yesterday at Frescati.

Waiting for the Nobel Laureates of 2009.

On Friday we met the pleasent people from the Nobel Foundation to get through the schedule of the activities that the Nobel Laureates of 2009 will be attending during their visit in Stockholm, between the 7th and the 13th of December.
It's an intense week with photographing at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Kungliga Vetenskaps Akademien - KVA), the Nordiska Museet, the Cityhall (Stadshuset), the Nobel museum, the Stockholms University and at the Nobel Foundation.
But this week is also one of the most interesting and spectacular to photograph of the whole year, and we are so much looking forward to it!

A bishop gets retired.

Some weeks ago, the 29th of October, we attended a special and very emotional ceremony at the Storkyrkan in Stockholm.
It was the ceremony where the bishop of Stockholms stift Caroline Krook left her official position as bishop.
The church was full of people who came to witness the ceremony, and to thank and wish good-buy to the leaving Caroline.
Part of the ceremony was leaving the bishop's crosier and cope, as a sign that the position was free now for the new bishop, who had already been elected, and who would be ordained a week later In Upsalla.
After the end of the ceremony there was a really long queue of all those that wanted to say personally a few words to Caroline Krook.

We are sooo excited!!!

The whole day today we have been receiving numerous emails, telephone calls, SMSs and messages at facebook from friends, customers and "our" wedding couples, about the article at Metro concerning our work as wedding photographers.

We are thrilled, we thank you all so much and we feel rather strange seeing ourselves on the photos.

Well, a photo at the first page of the newspaper plus the whole first page and the following page of the extra supplement dedicated on photography, is not something happening to us everyday! And considering that the newspaper is read by milions of people everyday (both the paper 4 editions and the internet edition in the whole country) feels us with joy!

A special thank you to the happy newly wedd couple, Helena and Niklas, that gave us their permition for these pictures to be published. We are sure you have a great honeymoon in Thailand right now! And you don't have to worry for a wedding announcement at a newspaper anymore! :-)

International conferens in Catalyst Chemistry.

In the middle of September the chemisrty Nobel Laureate in 2005 Robert Grubbs, professor in the California Institute of Technology, visited Stockholm and participated at the International Conferens of Catalyst Chemsisrty, which was held at Aula Magna, in Stockholms Univeristy.

The professor really kept the interest of the audience with his presentation, talked about the "green" catalysts, and made the audience laugh several times with his humor, especially when he mentioned the bath products from Victoria's Secrets line and "her logo" "think pink, live green"!

Yesterday we had the pleasure to photograph the wedding of Helena and Niklas, who got married at Stefankyrkan in Stockholm.

The weather was not the best with some raindropps coming all the time and the temperature just a few degrees Celsius above zero, but the light and especially the autumn colours were magical!

It felt a little strange though during the session because there were another photographer and a reporter from a swedish daily magasine there, that were making an article about us, thus we were also being photographed! :-)

I swear, it is much easier to stand behind the camera than in front of it!

We are back soon with photos from the newlly-wedds plus the article of the magasine. Stay tuned ... :-

Stockholm's University 2009 doctoral awards in Stadshuset.

In the end of September it was time for the yearly ceremony of Stockholms University to award the new doktors in a magnificent ceremony in Stadshuset, in Stockholm.

During the ceremony the "pedagogiska priset" was also awarded.

After the ceremony at the "blå hallen" the dinner was offered at the "gyllene salen".

The serving of the desert was as always spectacular and after the dinner followed dance until early in the morning.

Ο Νίκος κι η Χαρά στη Σαντορίνη!

In the middle of September we left Stockholm with near 0 degrees and arrived in Santorini.

At 8.30 in the evening and with 22 degrees C, the wedding couple with the bestman and one more friend were at the airport to welcome us and take us out for dinner, before they droveus to the hotel.

3 hours and lots of seafood and other greek delicasies later, we arrived at the hotel, left our things there and followed the couple for a drink at a club, where their friends were waiting. We left them at the bar and went to sleep at ... 06.30 in the morning!!!

That was a taste of what would follow the next days!

The couple with their closest friends had booked rooms at a wonderful hotel at Imerovigli, just a few meters away from the church where they would have the wedding ceremony.

The view from their hotel and the terace where everybody was gothering for a coffee was simply breathtaking.

The bride started getting ready for the ceremony at 3 pm with her closest friends. It was a change from the weddings we usually photograph to see so many of the bride's family members just coming in and out her room, huging and wishing, and being photographed with her!

On the meantime, the bridegroom with his friends did not look any stressed at all, just chilling out with a few drinks near the hotel's swimming pool!

Both the bride and the bridegroom were escorted to the church by their families and relatives ... with the bride almost dragging her father from anxiety to meet her love and come in the church!

After the ceremony and just before entering the venue where the reception party would be held, i asked the couple what was the schedule of the happenings there.

Nikos said they would cut the cake first and then they would go around the gests' tables to skoal with each one of them. Then they would sit down and take it easy for the rest of the night to get some rest.

"Won't you dance any?", i asked them rather surprised. "The first dance is always the bride's by tradition!"

"No, no!" they both anwered at once, "let the older dance! We shall take it easy!"

Well, he, he, yes the older did dance, but i don't think the couple got any rest either! :-)

By the way, the teenager who played greek traditional music from the islands with his violin was a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

Because of shortage of time we did not have the time for some photos of the couple with the bestman and the bridesmaid at the wedding day.

But we had plenty of time the day after! :-)

So out we were again, with everybody in the nice clothes (except me, it was some 30 degrees C). We also had the friends as our audience following us everywhere, plus dosens of turists who thought it was a photo session for some fashion magasine and of course stopped by to take their own pictures! :-)

Chara and Niko, our warmest congratulations and wishes for your life together! And many thanks because you were the reason for a wonderful time in a wonderful island!

Many thanks also to Jannis (the bestman), Giwta (the super happy bridesmaid), Niki, Ariadni (most beloved!), Aggelos and Paulina and everybody else, who welcomed us and made us feel as if we new you for years!

Greek wedding in Santorini!

Here come some teasers from a wonderful wedding we attended in Santorini, Greece, last weekend.

Nikos and Chara found eachother in England, while on studies. Although they live and work permanently there they chose Greece for their wedding. Not Thessaloniki, at the northern Greece, neither the island of Lesvos, where they come from.

They chose the island of Santorini instead which they have fallen in love with.

Easy to see why...

Anya and Erik

Anya and Erik came to Stockholm just a couple of days before their wedding day, thus i had the chance to meet them for the first time just the day before the wedding.
It was actually just Anya that i met (Erik had some other last-minute detail to take care of) and i was a litlle worried about the portraits of the couple. I use to always meet the couples some days before their wedding and photograph them so that it feels more comfortable for them on the actual wedding day. But Anya and Erik live permanently in Moscow and we could not have met earlier...
Well, the day could not have gone better! Both of them so relaxed, happy and photogenic! Needless to mention about being in love with each other!
The ceremony and the reception were held at the beuatiful Cedergrenska Tornet in Stockholm and the portraits of the couple were taken during a walk at the surounding area.
The couple's guests were, as expected mostly from Sweden and Russia. Many of their friends though had travelled to Sweden from countries like Latvia, South Africa, Swaziland, Brazil, Venezuella, Australia, Portugal and the States!
During the reception russian and swedish vodka flowed, raising the party mood. The couple had even imported the best-selling "Parliament" vodka from Russia, especially for the occasion!
Anya and Erik, congratulations once again for your wedding, and many thanks for your trust on us for your wedding photos!

Everyday we look at our statistics at StatCounter and get amazing information about our visitors! Actually we looove statistics! we check even many times per day! :-)

The picture above shows an average day, with some 80 visitors the 01 of September.

It's real fun to see not only from which homepage the visitors have come from, not even which words they looked for at Google, but most of all the map of the world with the countries from where our visitors' computers are stationed!

And a small detail: not to mention "weddings" or the "Stockholm University" as the major words/tags at Google, but "Jelena Isinbayeva" has a whole 4%! And an other 3% the "Nobel prizes"! Wow! :-)

New Zealand "met" Sweden in England!

It was at the Reading Festival, outside London, that Mark and Helena met, before they moved to Stockholm together.

When i met them first time, some months ahead from the wedding day, there were still one and other thing to be prepared or planned for the big day. One thing though was already decided and agreed by both from the very beginning; the wedding ceremony would take place in the nature and not in some building. Both of them love nature and there they would change their vows. It came as no surprise thus that, moments before Helena would meet Mark for the wedding ceremony, she stopped and took her shoes off; to feel the grass, to come closer to the nature, to get from its energy...

Helena and Mark, thank you for letting me share your happiness that day!

Now, I can imagine the two of you looking at your pictures while enjoying a pina colada at your hotel! :-)

Cecilia and Johan

Cecilia and Johan got married the first saturday of August, a warm and sunny day!

It was so nice to follow the couple the whole day and go through all the emotions with them, from the nervosity and anxiety during the preparations, to the pure happiness after the wedding ceremony and finally the relaxed state during the reception!

One of the highlights of the day was after the dinner and the speeches and before the first dance, when Cecilia's relatives "kidnapped" the bridegroom, and Cecilia had to "pay" to get him back, by singing something, in finnish. Such a nice voice...!

Indian wedding!

Both Fatima and Salim have their roots in India, their parents and grandparents are indian but Fatima was raised in Sweden while Salim in England. This did not stopp them though of finding eachother and falling in love with eachother.

The result was a fabulous 4-days wedding with a great many guests arriving from England, Canada, USA and Dubai to name but a few, full of traditions and customs, colours, laughs and tears, and most of all, warmth, kindness and emotions!

I am not the proper one to talk about the customs and the traditions, as i am not from India neither muslim myself, and i do not dare to write anything afraid of mistakes and misunderstandings.

But i will DO write about the hospitality and the care that Fatima and Salim first of all, but also their families and furthermore their closest relatives (which were some hundrends maybe ? :-) ) took of us!

Best wishes to the happy couple, who moved to England to continue their life together there!

It was some years ago that Mia photographed Josefin and Martin's wedding. Not only the pictures were beatiful, it was also such a joy to photograph the couple and be with them during the wedding day!
Some of their pictures actually became so much our favorite that we have used them in our homepage, in catalogues and leaflets, even in lifesize posters! :-)

Yesterday it was time to meet the couple and photograph them again, but this time they were ... three!
The little Hedvig has become the new member of the family and what a child full of life she is!!!
Laughing the whole time and not stopping moving for one second, though we photographed for a couple of hours.

Hedvig was dressed in charming, trendy pink clothes and accessories (just like her mother)! So sweet! :-)

I met Cecilia and Johan some days ago to just have some time together, talk a little about photographing during their wedding day, take a stroll and photograph some photos of them. Nothing special, just relaxed photos so we can get to know each other a little better and make it thus easier for the photosession during their big day.
Very nice weather and a very nice place to spend a Sunday afternoon! And the couple ... reeeeally in love! :-)

Helena saw Isabella's photosession in our blog a month ago, and thought of giving a surprise present to her man-to-be by making an own session herself.
When i asked her how was that that she took this decision, she answered that she is generally too shy infront of the camera and her pictures don't use to become so nice. Her man saw a similar session and by wanting to tease her he wished that she could stand in front of a camera and be photographed for similar photos ...
It was then that she thought of making him be taken aback, when he would receive these photos in a nice album, as a present the morning after their wedding day. Of course she had to choose through some 400 pictures and these showed here, were just the beginning of our session.

The rest of the photos are "for his eyes only"!

(Helena became so happy with her pictures that she happily gave us permition to show in the blog some of them. F is looking at his album several times a day! :-) )

Helena and Mark

Today i met Helena and Mark for the first time. They are gonna get married soon so we spent some time drinking coffee, talking and planning about photography during their big day, and in the end we also took a walk and photographed a little.
Their first comment was that they did not know how to stand and what to do in front of the camera, and that it has not been often at all for them to pose for a photographer
(exactly the same words that almost every couple say when we first meet)!
We photographed for almost 10 minutes and during this time it felt like they were transformed into experienced models. Their photos talk themselves... :-)
Thanks Helena and Mark for your trust! I am so really looking forward to being with you all day at your wedding day!
Helena, i was really flattered to know that you had made your mind and chosen us allready since January, when we met in Grand Hotel!

I love pictures that show emotions and a strong connection between two persons.

That's why i love so much to "catch" these valuable moments especially when photographing a wedding.
But i am a real sucker when the two persons are father and son. I find it really hard to hold back my tears when i see an old father crying (hopefully of happiness and proudness) looking at his son. It always reminds me of my own father who in the age of 74 lives some 3000 km far away, and of how much we miss each other...
The picture above is not from a wedding but it feels special anyway. The little Karl was photographed with his sister and parents some days ago, but it was this photo with his father that immediately became my favorite.

Nils becomes 7 weeks old!

First time we met Elisabeth and Andreas was at their wedding day, 3 years ago. Last Saturday it was time again, when little Nils became 7 weeks old!
It feels always great meeting people and photographing them, saving on photopaper really special and unique moments.

Photographing so young babies is really unique! It's amazing how fast they grow-up and change, and one understands that only after some months or a couple of years, while looking back at photos or videos, and only then really seeing the huge difference (we are talking from own experience, by our own children!)!

It was a joy to meet and photograph Nils (and his parents of course) who although a little tired, offered us really big smiles and loughs!

Birthday celebration with friends!

When William and Isaak had their birthday (both been born the same day) they invited their friends for some party at Lekis.
Lekis is a very cool place! The children have a huge place indoors to climbe, jump, run and sweat, while the parents get the chance to meet each other and have some coffee. But the most important is that there is no need for cleaning at home after the party, and that the children are so tired after the party time that they are really looking forward to going early to sleep! :-)
The party was a real success and everybody is looking forward for the next one, hopefully at the same place!
ps: have you noticed that no girls are present/invited at the party? Well, the priorities are still diferent than, let's say, when having a similar party ten years later! :-)

The Nobel prizes 2009.

Last year we had the honour to be the official photographers of the Nobel Foundation, and thus to photograph the Nobel Laureates from their arrival to the swedish capital city and during the whole Nobel Week. Of course, we were there to photograph the zenith of the celebrations at the Stadshuset, the Nobel Banquet.
We are so excited that we shall have the same privilege again this year, to photograph during the Nobel Week 2009!

It's during the end of May and the beginning of June, when the highschools close for the summer vacations, that those who finish their last year of studies are taking the upper-secondary final examination.

Well, this is something to be really celebrated!

And it is! All the roads lead to Sergelstorg these days and convoys of trucks carry the celebrating students, who make really a mark of their joy for everybody!

It's almost a week gone but it's only now that i found the time to go through the photos from last week. Maybe because the weather today was awfull compared to Saturday's weather.

That day was really perfect for the Stockholm's marathon (well, maybe a little bit too warm though...)

Late in the evening it was time for some music. Cool temperature, cool participants and cool music.
The place was Stockholm university and the festival PopDakar (www.popdakar.nu).

15 new priests and 1 new diakon.

Yesterday we hade the privilege of being at the Storkyrka and attending the ceremony where 15 new priests and a diakon were blessed at the start of their new career, and welcomed by the bishop of Stockholms Stift in their "new family".
The ceremony was special not only due to the large number of the priests but mainly because it was the last time for the bishop of leading this ceremony as she is going to be retired soon and the already new elected bishop will continue next time.

Big applauds erupted when the bishop asked the public to welcome the new members of the church!

In the end everyone of the new priests was photographed alone together with Caroline Krook, and also a group photo was taken with everybody included.

We have just come back from a wonderful holiday in Greece, just to find our mailbox full of emails from friends and customers (not to mention all the commercials and the spam). it's always a joy to keep contact with peope and as nice to read emails with questions for photo-sessions, but just the idea of going through all the emails one-by-one to delete the unnecessary ...
And then, here it comes one that has long been awaited and the joy comes back! :-)

Well, this is a picture that i should have blogged a month ago, when it was still cold and icy in Sweden but the spring had already arrived in Greece.
I had forgotten how beautiful, shunny and warm it used to be every March-April, when i still lived there and i took everything for granted. It was my very best friend Giorgos Iliopoulos that reminded me of that beauty and i just keep on looking at this picture that i keep on the screen of the computer ever since.
But now it's as nice and almost as warm also here, in Stockholm! :-)

It was such a joy to walk around in the centre of the city and photograph our beautiful models!
Becker was leading by taking the first images, showing to us how he would photograph them and then encouraged each one of us who attended the seminary to photograph his/her own way.
Hötorget - Kungsgatan - Stureplan.
Lots of people gasped looking at some 15 professional photographers with a couple of biiig cameras and lenses each, photographing like crazy our "wedding couple". Some asked who the celebrities getting married were. They got dissapointed to know that they were "just" models! :-)

Some days ago [B]ecker and Jessica were in Stockholm for a 2-days seminar in wedding photography. Both of them are world-famous, extremely capable photographers and unparalleled in selfpromoting and establishing their names as trademarks!
The seminars were really informative and full of inspiration. As far as Becker's day is concerned, it was also full of teasing and laughing!

Ellen and Peter live in Holland but they like Stockholm very much. So much actually that they desided to fly to Stockholm to get married!
I met them a couple of months ago for the first time, during a grey, cold and snowy day. We had some coffee at the centre of the city and talked a little about the photos during the wedding day. What stroke me was the way they were sitting/half-lying on the sofa close to eachother, holding eachothers hand while talking about their plans. Laughing and glowing the whole time!

Last week it was ...THE day!
Just look at Peters face when coming out of Stockholms Stadshuset, just after the wedding ceremony!!!

More, or rather really more photos coming soon. The day included, among other, almost an hours travel by carriage in the centre of the city plus a 3 hours cruise round Stockholm! And the weather was just magnificent!

The 30th of April it was the yearly Valborg holiday.
That's a tradition in Sweden that has it's roots at the 7th century a. C. and during which people all over the country starts big bonfires, with the accompany of traditional music and dance.
Hundreds of people are gathering arount the place of the bonfire and it's really interesting to see how the view of the fire affects them. People get magnitised, the eyes stuck on the bonfire, the faces become a little harder (and maybe a litlle scarier).
No wonder that fire had been considered almost divine for thousands of years!

While going through some thousands of pictures from a last year's wedding, i stopped at this photograph

Every time i look at it i get as much amazed as when i first show it, the evening after Fatima and Salim's wedding!

It was so hard to believe that this dreamy place was actually one of these tents

ps: this tent was there for the guests and especially for the closest relatives (which were a couple of hundreds) to meet and be with each other during the 4 days of the festivities.

Most of them had come from other countries like England, the States, Canada and Dubai, and they were really enjoying to be reunited with relatives, that they probably had not have the chance to meet as often otherwise).
The reception was actually held elsewhere and it took the whole third day of the four that we were with the wed couple!

And here is a photo of how it looked like on the floor! Since the tent was at the garden, i guess that the carpets where lying on the grass, probably above plastic sheets.

Acoording to a swedish tradition since the 19th century, the small children will be dressed as withes and go around knocking at the doors, giving Eastercards that they have made themselves and getting back sweets and candies.
Well, witches in our days have become så cute! :-)

John Michael Cooper is a worldfamous photographer, very capable and inspirational, a little crazy and certainly with unique ideas (by the way he was the one who started the craze about "Trash The Dress"!).
There have been many photographers that have whined about they photograph everybody else but they don't have photos of themselves because noone ever photographs them.
Well, John was the one who started doing something about it with his famous "pay it forward" project.
He offered to photograph another photographer's family and instead of getting paid for his work, the other photographer (whose family was photographed) should pay it forward by photographing a third photographer's family, and so on.
Last May was John in Sweden for two seminars. It was then that he photographed Jenny Blad who in her turn photographed Linda.
Well guess what; last week we were photographed by Linda!!! And now we have finally beautifull pictures of the whole family together for the first time!!!
Guess if we are happy and thankful! Now it's our turn to pay forward!

Kick-boxing...

Today i photographed for more than an hour at Frescatihallen for the staff magazine of Stockholm University.
That was part of the sport photos we needed and it included spinning and boxing (we had already photographed other sport activities both in the area of SU and LHS the previous week).
Those who trained plus their instructors where so very kind to permit me being there and i got many nice pictures.
This photo though really stuck in my mind and i have been coming back to it all the time.
I just looove the way she is looking! She is so focused and "gives it all" while training! I really love this picture!

Pia and Nils got married in the end of February, in Vaxholm.

It was a really warm wedding, with a couple that did not stop shining together with their closest relatives and friends. We were really lucky to have a wonderful sun although it was still cold and icy - it was one of the very first sunny days after many so many grey months.

A really nice welcome for the new wed couple by the city they have just moved in!

Longing for the summer ...

The weather is finally starting being a little better! The cold is not any more worse than ... just a couple degrees minus (!) and for most of the day is plus! Middle of March and the Spring is slowly coming!

It's that weather that makes me think of the beautiful summertime in Sweden (and even more in Greece)!

Last August i was contacted by Isabella for taking some photos of her.

She wanted some photos in nature, with the sense of water and forest, as long as it was relatively still warm. She wanted the pictures mainly for herself and her man, but also eventually for her portfolio, since she is working part time as a model.

We met late a Sunday evening, at Margretelun, in Åkersberga. With her was also Sintra (her little dog that modeled with her in some of the photos) and Andreas (her man who's help by holding the reflector was really appreciated), although no one of them shows on the pictures above and below. We photographed until the sun was under the horizon.

Isabella is a very happy and beautiful, full of energy young lady. Visit her blog "ännu en dag" ("one more day") to see more of her mode pictures plus to "get to know" her a little.

"Darwin is back home!"

2009 is the year that Charles Darwin "becomes" 200 years old and Darwinism 150 years old.

It's this year that Stockholm University is celebrating also for finding and bringing back to its library Darwins bok "The descent of Man and selection in relation to sex".

The book is from the first published edition, has Darwins autograph in it and had been stolen and away from the university's library for many decades.

Until it was seen as an item for sale in an auktion's list and recognised by the university's stamp...

Right now the book has come back "home" and it is secure in "the holly room" where just a few have access, a great number of other very rare books are also collected and eveything is preserved under controlled conditions of light, temperature and humidity.

"Skånsta Ryttare" riding club

Last Saturday we visited the local riding club in Åkersberga, to have a look there and ask about riding lessons for the children and the activities there.

That was the first time i saw horses being used as drag power by somebody who is skiing! :-)

Well, it was rather smart and judging from the smile on the face of the young skier, it must have been lots of fun too!

Last Friday "Svenska Interpress" had it's annual "kick off" at Skansen in Stockholm.

Solliden was booked for the evening and what a beautiful place it was! Not to mention the view from there, especially when it started getting dark...

The company's CEO Peter Fagerström opened the evening ...

... and talked about the year that had gone and the plans for the new year.

The world finansial crisis and its influense on Interpress was also mentioned! :-)

The evening continued with dinner and entertainment...

... until early in the morning!

The Nobel Banquet 2008 at the Stockholm City Hall.

As we wrote in our blog in December (have a look here and here), we were privileged to be asked to photograph the Nobel Banquet in Stockholm.

The experience was awesome, the photos became really nice, the people who contacted us from the Nobel Foundation were happy with them and we had had a really joyful evening.

Well, it doesn't happen every day to be able to talk to and photograph the royal family, top names from the political and financial life of the state, plus so many academics and Nobel Laureates, all at the same place in the same evening!

We were planning to show some of the photos that we took during that evening, here in our blogsite, with the kind permition of the Nobel Foundation, because it is the Foundation that owns the copyright of the pictures (as part of our agreement).

Some time ago i was contacted by this young lady to photograph her wedding. She was also interested in a session to give a photo album as a morgongåva to her husband, the morning after their wedding day. We met at their home (as the bride-to-be wished) and photographed one evening.

Yesterday we received an email by the now married lady where, except from thanking us for the nice pictures from the wedding day, she also mentions "... (brudgummen) blev alldeles rörd av bilderna han fick i morgongåva. Han sa att han känner sig enormt hedrad över att få så vackra bilder! ..." (transl: "...the bridegroom was totally touched from the photos that he got as a present. He said he felt extremely honoured by receiving such beautiful pictures!")

It's this kind of emails that really make our day! :-)

Ulrika's gift.

In the end of December i met Ulrika, who wanted to be photographed while pregnant, to give the pictures to her Alex as a present.

The day that she was going to give birth was estimated as in the same week that Alex would have his birthday! This in combination with the fact that the baby is their first made her to decide for a special birhday present.

Ulrika wanted to be photographed at her (their) home and wanted the pictures to have a taste of "studio / fashion" photography.

Love is in the air!

This weekend we exhibited at the wedding fair in Grand Hotel in Stockholm.

It was the third year that we took part there and by far the most successful. We met a lot of couples that came to see our work and talk with us, we met other colleagues photographers and made contacts with other professionals who work with weddings.

We offered again this year the little "bonbonniere" that has been so much appreciated the previous years.
Each one of them contains 5-6 sweet candies. Just to get an idea about the number of our visitors, we used 9 whole kilos of them!!!

Jonas and Oksana (from "Let's Dance") gave their proposition as how the new wed couples should dance their first dance as married couple...

... and "Chokladhuset" from Nynäshamn had the longest queue of those waiting to taste the delicasies of the house!

We must command also the wonderful voice of Therese Knutsson, who sang love songs in the same way as when she sings inthe church, during the wedding ceremonies.

Finally, the last photo is from Lisa and Fredrik, a very sweet couple that a couple of minutes before the end of the fair, on Sunday, were trying to take a self-portrait picture of themselves with the camera of their mobile phone. I gave them a helping hand and used our camera instead...

Although a bit late, we would like to wish all our customers, visitors of our homepage and blog, as well as all our friends a very happy and prosperous New Year!

For us the previous year has been an outstanding one! Not only we have had the honour of cooparating with customers-friends that trust us and keep on coming back to us year after year, but we have also gotten the chance to meet new ones, and that's always exchiting.
We have met new people, we have learned a lot through seminars, photo communities and practice, we have renewed our presentation in internet and the social media, and we have travelled a lot both in the country and abroad! It has been wonderful and we feel so privileged about that. Thank you from our hearts!

This year we are celebrating the 10 years anniversary since we started together, Mia and myself, our "Orasis foto". A lot has changed and been improved since that time, both in our company as well as in the whole photographic world.
We feel challenged and hope that this year will be an even better one, with more people to meet, more travelling and even higher standards to reach. But most important, with the same joy as during all the previous years!

Some weeks ago i photographed U, who is pregnant in the 9th month.

The idea was that U would be photographed so that she had nice pictures from the tummy, but also to show in the pictures how beautiful and sexy a woman can be, even when the body goes through such extended changes. The pictures should look like studio/fashion pictures.

A nice album was made by them, in the like of "morgongåva" or "boudoir" photography albums, and is ready to be given to the father-to-be on Sunday, as a present for his birthday.

That's why more pictures can be added here only after next week, after the birtday (both his and the baby's :-) )!
